I've been fishing 4 or 5 hours a day this past week and can confidently say the gar-to-king-koi appearance is much closer to the 15:1 rate difference that appears in the river net details than the 3:2 difference listed here. But when animals ask for a specific item, they only reward 100 Bells per item—except for the 3 x “Uncommons” (red snapper, black bass, and horned dynastids), which reward more. I luckily caught a tuna at my first visit to saltwater shores. By guessing each fish before it’s caught, we can learn to tell them apart. While these guys might look cute, the Nooklings will only pay a low 150 bells for them. They can be identified by their small shadows. Because, bizarrely, although they’re worth 100+ Bells, they only give 100 Bells (and absolutely no bonuses) when given to animals.
