The GEs honestly aren't that different from other colleges except for HUM. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. I’ll be study similar majors in both SD and UW, so academic is not my main concern cuz both schools are great. Does that overlap with a lot of nat sci GE’s?? Seriously though, living in Revelle dorms isn't bad compared to the other colleges. that's 16 people. But don't let the perfect be the enemy of the "good enough."

Press J to jump to the feed. I transferred from UW-Seattle and am now attending UCSD. We will send out more information regarding where to check in as Move-In Weekend approaches.

So will any other UCSD college.

I understand that with a mask and COVID you can't experience 100% of college life and that sucks. Welcome to r/UCSD! type 1: Argo and Blake.

I actually was in the same predicament and they were both my top schools when I was an incoming freshman.

r/UCSD: Welcome to r/UCSD! The natsci requirement is 3 subjects and then the other two can be in whichever of those you enjoy more.

The dorms at Revelle (in my experience, Argo) are not bad at all. We had a hot water line break on us about 2 months in, so we had no hot water for about 2 weeks. each suite is single gender with one bathroom with two toilets, three sinks, and two showers.

Heck, I'd say it's a little roomier than most dorms on campus. Time is ticking closer and closer to move-in day at UC San Diego and we understand that you’re probably wondering what you need to bring, how much space will you have, and probably a lot of more thoughts too! Aww thanks for you thorough response! I know it's been better, but that was my experience 10 or so years ago. Is the major science related?

the other is the RA suite that is two triples, the RA single, and a single bathroom (again, one of each.) every suite is the same in floors 2-4 but first floor can be different. Congrats on getting into UW and UCSD!!

I expected the worst when it came to my room, so I didn't pack too much (since I lived closer to SD than my Norcal roomies).

… Marshall/Muir/ERC have problems due to architecture and Sixth is just unpredictable, Warren got updated and is still bad. In fact, if I were to stay anywhere else on campus again, I'd choose Revelle.

UW dorms -> you'll either be in really old dorms in North Campus or new dorms in West Campus. on the bottom floor there's a large common room and laundry room. Cookies help us deliver our Services.

Lived in Argo my first year, Beagle second year.

They really aren't that bad IMO.

I think the apartments were remodeled recently, as, I think, were the res halls, and the dining hall is among the newest on campus - so I doubt they suck much worse than anywhere else on campus. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Welcome and congratulations on being accepted to UC San Diego and Revelle College! I was overflow and dormed in the fleets last year. Bad news for incoming Muir and Revelle students. there's often overflow students from other colleges in these reshalls too, which may upset the "gender balance."

You can't have a car on campus as a freshman, so bus to get other food?

As for HUM, you can take 3, 4, and 5 at a CC near home or online. Just depends on what type of room you're put in (triple, single..). Actually, Warren and Revelle have the greatest concentration of engineering majors.

Tbh I kinda want to have college experience like Friday night football games and I know SD doesn’t have that. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. in Argo and Blake its really easy to meet a lot of people. You get a bit of privacy with the toilets, but you can still hear a lot of things. They're freshly rennovated and i get jealous of my friends in revelle lol.

Continue reading for a junior’s insider guide for tips, tricks, and advice for picking the . I wouldn't recommend Revelle unless you were a science major that overlaps GE's with required courses.

type 2: the fleet, or known individually as galathea, discovery, meteor, Challenger, Atlantis, and beagle.

I had a good experience them.

Overall, if you don't bring your whole house and come in without being bitter about being placed in overflow (I assume you are, my apologies if you're not), then I think you'll like the Revelle dorms. It's not 4 years of Humanities, it's 5 classes, two of which have more writing than the others. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast.

I think professors generally care more about their students and class sizes once you get to upper divs are very small (capped at 60 or so students, but many are 20-40 students), which I enjoyed. Used to be that a Revelle degree was somewhat highly regarded, now everybody seems afraid of it.

these laundry rooms are the only ones with sinks to hand wash clothes in revelle. Thank you for listing the pros and cons!! Thanks!! Keep an eye out on your UC San Diego issued email address for all communications from our office.

This is a forum where the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other individuals associated with the University of … If this matters to you, that is. The upper divs (I'm in bio) are still massive classes (100+ students for most of them).

FOOD IS MUCH BETTER and dining dollars can be used much more widely. it's also possible your RA may live in the apartments, as each building has two RAs so one lives in the RA suite and the other lives in the apartments.

The dining plan requirement sucks though.

Thanks guys! there's two "types" of buildings, but 8 actual buildings for reshalls.

I really liked living in the Revelle dorms since it was super close to a lot of the lecture halls/classrooms for my classes.

3 sinks. Word on the streets is that the dining halls (summit and plaza) will be undergoing construction beginning January of '09. The math will help you in Econ.

Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. As the title suggests, what are your opinions about DI rooms and Revelle dorms in general?

My major concern for UCSD is the GE in Revelle. I was overflow and dormed in the fleets last year. Press J to jump to the feed. More theoretical than UW.

I didn’t take any AP science classes in high school but Revelle requires five natural science classes and four years of humanities which seem very challenging. I was in West and really loved it, but my friends in North didn't have many complaints/North campus is close to Frat Row, if you like to party.
