An Eagle fisherman set out to break Idaho’s record for white crappie. Dakota Miller of Melba broke the record for Northern Pikeminnow by catching a 24.75-inch fish on Jan. 12 while fishing at Lake Cascade. Instead, he broke the catch-and-release record for black crappie with a 17-inch fish. But Jon Urban of Eagle went on to break it just two months later. Urban's record moves the black crappie catch/release record back to southern Idaho, after several previous records were caught in Idaho's panhandle. Flyfisherman Tom Weadick of Coeur d’Alene was able to get a 21-inch Westlope Cutthroat Trout while fishing on the North Fork Coeur d’Alene River on June 19. His catch surpassed the previous record set in 2018 by more than 2 inches. The reservoir currently holds the certified weight record white crappie (3.8 pounds, 17.5 inches) caught by Trenten Smith in 2012. An Eagle fisherman set out to break Idaho’s record for white crappie. Mike Nunemacher of Hayden was able to catch a large Tench at Coeur d’Alene Lake on May 31.
