The shape might be more accurate on paper but they way they look on a figure is awful. Luke wields a blue lightsaber and a standard blaster pistol. Since 1999 there have been over ten X-Wing models created (not including micro sets or Microfighters). These may not appeal to everyone but they are excellent for play and can be removed with ease. Using modern techniques and updated bricks, LEGO has continued to release variable and improved X-Wing sets since 1999 with the most recent release of the 75273 model in January 2020. Surely it's really not that hard to pop the wings back with the lever. Its fuselage looks great when compared with the source material and I love the bright light yellow highlights which provide a brilliant splash of colour to the vehicle. Otoh I have got three different versions of Slave I. The wings of the fighter can shift between attack or rest position and boasts a 20-inch wingspan.

What’s your opinion? Also included are both spring-loaded missiles and stud shooters for that extra battle experience. Well done, Lego. Pushing this switch forward will cause the wings to open fairly quickly, improving quite considerably upon past designs which have opened gradually.

The engines have also been updated quite substantially since 9493 X-wing Starfighter was released in 2012. Yet LEGO's site calls the ability to place the droid laterally "new for August 2018"! It is a benchmark of the Star Wars franchise, and that is why in 1999 LEGO chose it to be the very first Star Wars set to be released. Our dedicated LEGO experts are here to help.

The ship itself is very ‘swooshable’ and there is an easy-to-access lever which controls the S-Foils. hehe. The 4 mini-figures included in the set are a Rebel Mechanic, R2-D2 the Astro-mech droid, Luke Skywalker (lightsaber included), and Luke’s childhood friend from Tatooine Biggs Darklighter. Use of this site signifies your agreement to the terms of use. In this case, both Luke and Biggs have two face prints, but neither side has the chin strap.

I bought the original Biggs on aftermarket, and have him piloting one of my two 2012 X-Wings.

I love it! There has been a fair bit of this lazy design technique in Lego Star Wars recently. It fell apart in a move and I unfortunately lost some of the pieces, but what I do have left, my kids throughly enjoy, especially the droids.

Just recently, Costco dropped theirs down to $64.99, and Walmart to $64. It's not a huge deal, but it looks droopy rather than impressive when on display in landing position. Overall, this is a fantastic looking set. This was the very first Star Wars LEGO set to ever be released and was the front-page star of the 1999 LEGO catalogue.

Furthermore, a red fire extinguisher is placed behind the seat. I am particularly impressed with the chequerboard pattern on Biggs' helmet. The UCS set came with 1,304 pieces, a scale model of R2-D2, a stand for the X-Wing, and a description card.

)- way too expensive, even for LSW- new helmets are ok but just don't look as nice as Poe's or the U-wing pilot's I'm a huge LSW fan since 1999 but this is just a 3/5 for me. Sixteen years have passed since Biggs Darklighter last appeared in a LEGO Star Wars set so I am delighted to see him return! Finally, the best set for a young Star Wars fan is the Resistance X-wing Starfighter 75149. The underside of the X-wing is less detailed than the upper surface, as one would expect. The printed decoration matches the source material exactly and is remarkably intricate. Bargain.

9493 was a modest improvement a few years back, but not enough to warrant a new purchase.

To give you a sense of the price difference for pre-assembled elements like this, on Bricks & Pieces, each Medium or Dark Stone Grey 3010 costs £0.16, while each 15400 costs £0.67 (over 4 times more). The best, the new engines; the worst, the canyons are too short, but it is easy to fix them.About the new helmet, it looks a bit rare, altough the prints are brilliant.

They look like they haven't been pressed down all the way. The total length of the X-wing measures just over 12 inches. Yoda’s hut comes with his bed, a glass, and a special secret compartment. It makes for a different build than you may be used to utilising different types of bricks. Thanks for another great review Captain! If it becomes available at a substantial discount, I will get it, but at RRP, no smeggin' way.

This one might be it! I was very disappointed. Is it me, or is LEGO running out of ideas? It is way too expensive, but it is also completely excellent...in fact, I am trying to figure out how to get a second one. Spring shooters are forgivable but everything else about them sucks- The wings are a each whole brick thick- Gaps beside droid socket- The way the wings are attached. They now include vertical braces which are represented by light bluish grey ice picks, borrowing an impressive building technique from 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter. It's hard to tell how much of this is licensing contracts requiring higher royalty payments and how much is manufacturers padding their profit margins in response to higher demand, but either way it doesn't seem to be a LEGO-specific issue by any means.

This is the newest addition to the X-wing product line thus making it readily available for purchase and it doesn’t hurt that it is jam-packed with new and exciting features. If you can get around (or get over) the high MSRP, this is the best X-wing to date. The main feature that makes this X-wing stand out from the rest is its unique colouring of a Halloween shade of orange and black. It will be necessary to get used to them; they are here to stay. 75218 with 730 pieces was over-priced just like the rest of new Star Wars sets.

75218 finally looks like a sufficient leap forward from the design that has essentially persisted with only minor tweaks since 2004's 4502 X-Wing. The UCS set came with 1,304 pieces, a scale model of R2-D2, a stand for the X-Wing, and a description card. The proton torpedoes are not regrettably flick-fire, but still, make a wonderful addition to the set. In addition, the present design provides room for the landing gear to fold up inside and the bright light yellow highlights along the top of the fuselage certainly represent an improvement over previous models. I managed to pick this up for just over £50 from Amazon, when they had it on discount. Reading this review once again made me realize that I don't own any rendition of an X-Wing yet. Nevertheless, 75218 X-wing Starfighter is a magnificent set and I would certainly recommend adding it to your collection. However, the S-foils on this model are activated using a tan element on top of the fuselage. Go figure.Seriously though, this is a great set, but the price is prohibitive here in Europe. Obviously this is not a perfect solution though. Google Express had (still has?) This LEGO X-Wing featured a Utility Train with one car to shuttle pilots, and one car containing 6 tools.

Extra stickers and tiles let you switch between Luke's Red Five and Biggs’ Red Three X-wing designs. The end of the wings do not line up with each other.

For $80 in the US I’ll spend my money on other LEGO.

A new canopy element was produced for 75102 Poe's X-wing Fighter and it suits the T-65 X-wing as well as the T-70 model in my opinion. Managed to get it for £54 a couple of weeks ago from amazon. Instead of another Utility Vehicle, a collapsible moisture vaporator where flames pop up when it goes down is included.

Now, after a popular build for the T-70 X-Wing , we se a quick tweak and re-colour for the T-65. LEGO System A/S, DK-7190 Billund, Denmark. @560heliport I assume you are referring only to the T-65 X-wing? The set would be a worth display piece in any household due to its intricate details. This is the latest instalment in the X-wing series released August of 2018, and it also includes the most features and goodies along with it. But in the meantime, I understand I may be waiting a while, not because the idea for sets of these subjects somehow hasn't occurred to LEGO, but because they're just not in high enough demand at the moment to really be an urgent priority. The LEGO pieces are not all printed so a steady hand for applying stickers are required. Just think about how many new pieces Lego creates each year, creating thousands of new possibilities. But this rendition, highly updated compared to mine, and your arguments have convinced me that this more accurate and overall sturdy version was the good one for changing. Sigh... @UVARiovia interesting point about the wings sagging when closed--the UCS has the same problem.I'm on the fence about this one.

Weapons include Luke’s Lightsaber and blaster pistol, and Biggs’ blaster pistol. 75218 X-wing Starfighter is definitely the best minifigure-scale rendition of an X-wing that LEGO has produced. I already gave up complaining about prices on Star Wars Sets.
